Virtual MPCA Turf grass Maintenance Certification Training

The summer turf grass maintenance training focuses on best management practices (BMPs) for lawn/turf care maintenance that can save you money while protecting our valued lakes and streams. This online training is about 5 hours long, plus a short test.

The learning environment for this class is an interactive online format. Instructors will teach class online in real-time. Participants will interact with instructors and other participants through live chats, polls, and class discussion using the WebEx platform. We require attendees to actively participate in the online interactive class in addition to passing the online test to receive certification.

  • Environmental impacts of common turf BMPs to surface & groundwater

  • Life cycle of turf/weeds & appropriate control practices

  • Soil testing, fertilizer selection/application

  • Pesticide application tips

  • Equipment calibration and maintenance

  • Efficient & effective irrigation

  • Equipment calibration & improved mowing techniques

  • Legal issues

  • In-field reference materials

Take the optional online test at the end of training to get certified and be listed on the MPCA Turfgrass training webpage. Certificates are sent to Minnesota participants only and are valid for 5 years.

Registration is required. There is no limit on number of participants watching from the same device, but each individual must also be registered by registering as a group which allows you to submit each person's information.
