St. Croix Workshop on the Water

Join us aboard a Stillwater River Boat for our signature networking and education event for local leaders, including city councils, planning commissions, township boards, county commissioners, SWCD and watershed board members.

Learn about issues related to the St. Croix River, woodlands, and inland lakes and access support from state and local government.

Introductory presentations will include updates on the following projects:

  • Boundary Sign Project: Doug Rowen, Lower St. Croix Partnership Team (Town of Troy)

  • Minnesota Nutrient Reduction Strategy: Corrie Layfield, MN Pollution Control Agency

  • St. Croix TMDL: Marc White, Wild Rivers Conservancy

The event will also feature our popular “conservation speed dating” activity with learning stations:

  1. Harmful algal blooms: Gina LaLiberte, WI DNR

  2. Bringing trout back to a degraded stream: Karen Kill, Brown’s Creek Watershed District

  3. Code-breaker: Kristen Poppleton & Merritt Clapp-Smith, Met Council, Barbara Heitkamp, Lower St. Croix Watershed Partnership
